I’d tried many yoga classes over the years, but when I first went to an ashtanga class in Rishikesh, North India in 1999, I knew that this was the style for me. Unbeknown to me, those two weeks of practice would change the direction of my life.

Gong Sound Bath with Alison Mccabe
During the Gong Bath participants lie on the floor and receive the sound waves generated by the gongs. Sound healing works with brainwaves, and the gongs induce a Theta state, a very deep level of relaxation usually attained by monks after meditating for many years. It’s much easier than normal meditation as the gongs switch off your mind for you. Sound healing benefits body, mind and spirit and has a cumulative effect so regular attendance is suggested.
Alison McCabe and Tom Henfrey are Deepsong Gong collective and jointly facilitate the Gong Bath. Both Alison and Tom are passionate about building community and opening hearts through the Gong Bath. We weave reading, poetry and many other sacred instruments into the Gong experience. All are warmly welcomed.

I was ruminating about the death of my partner and a severely frozen shoulder at the time. …

All the essential elements of authentic yogic practice – pranayama (breathwork), posture and movement, meditation and chanting/ mantra- are combined, with the effect of stilling the mind, awakening shakti (essential energy/ power) and getting rid of the toxic effects of stress.
Beginners are welcome and no special experience or level of ability is required. Adjustments are made and alternatives offered where necessary.
Abi Lupton Levy
The life-changing moment that began my yogic journey was as a student in a Camden Town bookshop in the '80s. On leafing through a book entitled Raja Yoga, I realised my intuition that life and the world might be far more mysterious, multilayered and astonishing than it had so far been presented to me might actually be correct.
Very soon …
